House Rental Inspection Checklist, Printable PDF
Single-family rentals add rooms apartments skip — dining room, half bath, laundry, garage, and exterior surfaces. This house rental inspection checklist layout includes those blocks plus exterior and garage by default, with move-in and move-out columns throughout.
The form may span several pages; room titles repeat when a section continues. Controls below turn off garage or exterior if your lease does not include them.
For apartments and condos, use the studio through three-bedroom size layouts.
Whole-house walkthroughs start outside: roof drip edges, gutter seams, and grading toward foundation drains. Inside, run every burner and the oven broiler element; note uneven flames on the checklist. Attic hatches deserve a peek for insulation disturbance even when heat is off season. Garage door auto-reverse tests are quick but often skipped—document the month you tested. Multiple thermostats mean multiple filter sizes; write sizes on the HVAC line. Yard irrigation leaks show up only when zones run ten minutes each.
A condition record, not a legal form. Security deposit rules and inspection requirements vary by state and by lease.
