Edit either field and the other updates instantly. Classic roman numerals use subtractive pairs (IV for 4, IX for 9) rather than repeating the same letter four times.
How roman numerals work here
Letters stand for values: I (1), V (5), X (10), L (50), C (100), D (500), and M (1000). When a smaller value sits before a larger one, subtract it — so IV is 4 and IX is 9.
This tool follows the usual 1–3999 range used on clocks, book chapters, and outlines. It does not use zero, fractions, or the old four-in-a-row forms like IIII.
